Socks Fetish

Anyone who knows me understands that I am so not a socks person. I enjoy being bare or wear the least amount of coverage on my feet, and that doesn't matter if it's during the cold winter season. I also cannot stand people who wear socks to sleep; I believe part of the ZEN theory indicates the importance of setting your body free to breath the positive chi.

Nonetheless, I am a fashion guru. When it comes to the seasonal passion for fashion, I reckon the necessity to break some rules. After watching the sophisticated SJP in Sex and The City, I immediately fall in love with the socks trend. I mean, the over-the-knee-socks stylization is no longer limited among high school girls, it can quite evidently transform you into a downtown-chic sex symbol. But again, we are talking about SJP, that woman has a sharp sense of style anywhere anytime.

So how about over on the other side of the ocean? Take tokyo, for example, years ago the Ganguro girls could wear just about anything and make it a gossipy fashion style; now they seem to go "normal" with the looks, but certainly isn't understated. Ankle socks are HUGE in Japan this fall, perfecting a sweet, doll-up French look. I like the lacey ankle socks with some hard-core Christian Louboutin soles.

And on the runway after-all! Keep in mind that if you want to rock the socks look to make you seem like a fashion-savvy pro instead of an accessory amateur, choosing the right shoes is essential. If you are petitie, try over-the-knee socks because they tend to elongate your legs; if you like ankle socks, go for the heels or better yet, open-toe booties.

Love these looks!
